LUDHIANA: On Thursday, the Tibba road police have lodged an FIR under
kidnapping and
murder charges in the case where body of an unidentified person was found form a vacant plot in New Subhash Nagar on Tibba Road on September 6. The police initially had proceeded with Section 174 of CrPC in this case and also cremated the body after 72 hours.
The body was identified as that of a 17-year-old
Afzal Ansari of Kuldeep Nagar, Jodhewal area, on Thursday by his family members.
On September 6, an unidentified body was found from a vacant plot. The body had a minor head injury. After waiting for 72 hours the police cremated the body and proceeded with Section 174 of CrPC. However, on Thursday the family reached at police station Tibba for inquiry and identified the body from its pictures.
Afzal’s father, Mohammad Mana-ul Ansari, a labouerer said, his son was missing from the house since September 5 for which they had also lodged a missing complaint with police post,
Sundar Nagar. However, police could not trace him and a day later through someone they came to know that an unidentified body was found by Tibba police. On hearing it, they reached police station for identification.
Further, the father alleged that his son had been kidnapped by someone and later murdered. The family also raised questions on police that despite the missing compliant, police failed to trace him.
The investigating officer ASI Janak Raj said police have registered a case under sections of 364 (kidnapping) and 302 (murder) of the IPC on the basis of the statement of the father.
