The Haryana Police on Saturday constituted a special investigation team (SIT) headed by an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police to investigate the Rewari gang rape case.
On September 12, a 19-year-old student was gang-raped by three men, one of them an Army constable, belonging to her village in Rewari.
The police have released pictures of the three accused. A cash reward of ₹1 lakh was announced for any information leading to their arrest.
At a press conference, the SIT head, Superintendent of Police (Nuh) Nazneen Bhasin, said multiple teams had been constituted to arrest the accused. The SIT has two Deputy Superintendents of Police, three inspectors and two sub-inspectors.
Ms. Bhasin said the medical report of the girl had established rape. The teenager is under observation at the Rewari Civil Hospital. She was in a stable condition and was being counselled, said senior medical officer Sudersan Panwar.
Director-General of Police (Haryana) B.S. Sandhu said the arrest warrant of the accused Army constable was being procured.
