Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that he is ready to “adjust” with Telangana to “protect” the interests of the Telugu-speaking people in both the States.
Mr. Naidu’s observation at a time when the TDP is fighting against the TRS in Telangana, which is going for early elections, is set to create a flutter in the party circles.
“The BJP is trying to drive a wedge between me and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao by provoking the latter. But in view of larger interests of the Telugu-speaking people, I am ready to adjust and work hard for the welfare of both the States. I don’t mind even if it means a loss to me,” he quipped.
Training his guns on the NDA Government, Mr. Naidu said the BJP was instigating YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and JSP president Pawan Kalyan to speak against him. He also cautioned against voting for Mr. Jagan and Mr. Pawan as they were being supported by the BJP.
“I am the only CM to raise my voice against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The TDP is the only party to oppose the amendments to triple talaq as it believes that law should be uniform. Mr. Modi has gone back on his promise of arresting corrupt politicians such as Mr. Jagan,” he said.
