Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Saturday said that Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar has been given the post of organising secretary in the AIADMK only to prevent him from dragging more names into the gutkha scam.
Mr. Dhinakaran told presspersons that the Minister had been facing an uncertain future, and his days in the Cabinet were numbered.
To a question on the seizure of televisions and mobiles at the Puzhal prison, Mr. Dhinakaran said the incident had raised doubts whether the government was functional or not. “There is no governance in the State. It is a failure on the part of Law Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam and he should shoulder responsibility for the lapse,” he said. The AMMK leader said the recent statements of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambi Durai pointed to a strain in the relationship between the BJP and the AIADMK.
On the party launched by his brother T.T.V. Bhaskaran, Mr. Dhinakaran said anyone could launch a party in a democratic country and wondered whether there was any rule that prevented launching of multiple parties by members of a family.
