BENGALURU: An
Uber cab passenger has claimed his driver, who was a different person from the one whose name appeared on the app, was in an inebriated condition, forcing him to take the wheel to reach his residence.
On his Twitter handle, Surya Oruganti said he boarded the
cab at
Kempegowda International Airport. To his shock, the driver was different from the one on the app and was
drunk. Surya decided to drive himself and shot a video of the driver.
“@Uber_India, the ride back from Bangalore airport was not quite what I expected. The driver was drunk and drowsy. I had to pull the car over to the side and I drove all the way home. Pic with the driver in the rider seat passed out. You need to fix this @Uber, @Uber_Support,” Surya tweeted on September 9.
In its response, Uber tweeted, “Our safety team is having this addressed, Surya.”
