PANAJI: In view of the prevailing political chaos in Goa, the Congress party on Saturday urged Goa Governor
Mridula Sinha to give the Congress an opportunity to form a stable government in the state.
Despite chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s critical illness, the BJP is reluctant to hand over charge to "a trusted lieutenant" who can run the state in Parrikar’s absence, the Congress party said.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar expressed concern over Parrikar’s deteriorating health but also said that the BJP government was facing the repercussions for "snatching away the mandate given to the Congress" in the 2017 assembly elections.
"His act of snatching away the mandate given to the Congress in the 2017 assembly elections and his total mismanagement of all major issues in Goa, including mining, formalin, food adulteration, pollution, CRZ, TCP, Casino, unemployment has already driven Goa to the edge." Chodankar said. "This happens when you don’t respect people’s mandate. BJP and its allies should take up responsibility of this mess created in Goa over last 16 months."
