NEW DELHI: Even after four years, KYCs of more than 50 per cent of the members have not been seeded with their Universal Account Numbers (UANs) and they are not able to avail the online services of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (
EPFO).
The government has directed all establishments covered under EPFO to get 100 per cent KYC seeded with UANs of the PF Members. Seeding of these
KYC details with
UAN is mandatory and failure in doing so is a punishable offence.
In order to provide speedy, convenient and dependable services, EPFO had started allotting a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) since 2014 to all the provident fund members.
The UAN is important for all PF related services. The actual utility of UAN lies in seeding of KYCs such as Aadhar, bank account numbers, PAN and mobile numbers of PF members with their respective UANs. When the KYC details of the members are seeded with UAN, the members can get real time information about their PF accounts through mobiles. They can also file claims online.
The regional office in Delhi has taken up this work on a mission mode and all the registered establishments have been intimated about this through letters, emails, SMS and over the phone.
Automated messages are being sent to around 9,000 contributing establishments on daily basis. A special cell has been created in the office for any technical support. Nidhi Singh, regional PF commissioner, Delhi (North), said linking of KYC with UAN is mandatory for all the establishments. Prosecutions shall be lodged against the non-compliant establishments in this regard.
The UAN is important for all PF related services.
