Futuristic Range Rover Sport Was Made For Hulu’s “The First”

Jaguar Land Rover is among the companies chasing an electrified and autonomous driving future, but this story has nothing to do with their real-life ambitions to sell techy rides.

Instead, it highlights a special movie car that’s featured in a new drama series called ‘The First’, which is available for streaming on Hulu as of Friday, September 14.

Based on the current Range Rover Sport, the vehicle features lots of futuristic technologies, some of which were added in post-production. Among the equipment is the fully autonomous driving system, which, unlike true Level 5 self-driving cars, does have a steering wheel, and it can retract into the dashboard.

The British SUV also gets an exterior Smart Light Bar acting as a 360-degree sensor to rear the road surfaces and communicate with other cars on the road. As for those uncommon-looking windows, they have a virtually opaque mirrored surface, according to Land Rover, which changes to a traditionally transparent window in seconds.

Providing access to what is described as being “an intelligent interior that can change shape” are the coach doors. The cabin is said to be suitable for both business and relaxation, and “caters to the comfort needs of the passenger for communication, climate control and entertainment”.

This Range Rover Sport is fully electric in the series, and benefits from variable suspension, which changes the performance characteristics of the vehicle according to the desired ride of the driver.

At the time of writing, Land Rover hasn’t released more images with the special SUV, but cinephiles will catch more glimpses of it in the series, which comes from the creator of ‘House of Cards’ and stars Sean Penn.
