KOLKATA: Students protesting against the delay in the repairs of Eden Hindu Hostel have decided to hold a rally and march to Raj Bhavan next week.

Several boarders have been staying on the campus since August 4 to demand permission to move into Hindu Hostel which has been under repair since July 2015.

"In a meeting of all the protesting boarders on Thursday evening we have decided to march to Raj Bhavan. Our only demand is that Eden Hindu Hostel should be returned to the boarders at the earliest," said Anisur Haque, a protesting boarder.

"We will try to seek an appointment with the governor and meet him to update him about the condition the boarders are staying in," said Ayan Chakraborti, another student of the university.

On Monday protesting students stopped vice chancellor Anuradha Lohia and other staff members from entering the university prompting the authorities to shift the convocation to Nandan on Tuesday. Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, who also the chancellor of the university, did not attend the convocation.
