ALLAHABAD: Former president of Allahabad University student union, Richa Singh has demanded a fair probe into the allegations levelled against the vice chancellor of AU Prof Ratan Lal Hangloo regarding a chat with lady from Delhi which went viral recently.
The former president, who is also the first women president of AU (post -independence), says that till the independent probe on the said matter reaches any conclusion, the VC should step down or take a long leave as he being an office could hinder the fairness of the enquiry.
Richa, who is also the spokesperson of the
Samajwadi Party (SP) further alleged that if the VC can remove the former registrar Col Hitesh luv (retd) from his seat even before the result of the inquiry committee coming out and same was the case with head of the department of Hindi, who was asked to leave the office as soon as an enquiry was set up against him, why not the VC follow the same precendent?, she questions.
"As the VC has done in other cases, in the same manner he should himself step down from his office and let and independent probe find out the truth behind the alleged chat between him and a woman from Delhi", she said.
Singh further said that there have been several letters send to President and MHRD against the irregularities on the campus and there have been some independent enquiry committee also coming on the campus, but still the irregularities persist on the campus.
She said that the recent news of the chat between the VC and woman has tarnished the image of the university and the VC should ensure that truth should come out at as it is the matter of more than 12000 female students pursuing various courses on the campus and till then he should go on a long leave.
The former president of AUSU also says that UGC guidelines instructs for constituting a G S Cash committee in every University so that the female students or employee can register her complaint to the said committee, but the present VC has failed to constitute such a committee on the campus.
