Gurgaon: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman in a club a month ago and again at her home on Wednesday.
He also allegedly thrashed the 40-year-old complainant’s husband when the latter tried to intervene and threatened to kill him. The accused was produced in a city court on Friday, which released him on bail.
The man has been identified as Neeraj Jarodiya, a resident of Bheemgarh Kheri in Sector 3. According to police, the first incident happened on August 17 in a club in Sector 56, which the woman had visited with her husband. According to her complaint filed with police, Neeraj met them in the club and was heavily drunk.
He allegedly approached the woman and molested her, but she ignored it at that time.
On Wednesday, the accused allegedly reached the woman’s home in
Sector 15 around 6.30pm and again started misbehaving with her. When the woman called her husband, who was present in the house, for help, Neeraj also thrashed him.
He fled after threatening to kill them both, she told cops. The woman finally approached police and filed a complaint the next day.
On the basis of the woman’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused on Thursday under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at Civil Lines police station. Neeraj was arrested on Friday. “We arrested the accused and produced him in a city court on Friday. The court has granted him bail. We are investigating the case,” said inspector Chandra Prakash, SHO of Civil Lines police station.
