Three people were arrested by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police's anti-Romeo squads on Friday for allegedly harassing women and girls at public spaces, a police official said.
Those arrested were identified as Jay Sharma, Kunal Sharma and Nitin Kumar, all of them in their 20s, he said.
"The squads toured around schools, parks, markets, coaching centres and other public spaces. These three persons were held for making vulgar and indecent comments on women and girls," he said.
They were arrested in Dadri area and booked under IPC Section 294 (doing obscene acts of singing obscene songs in public space in annoyance to others), the official said.
The 'anti-Romeo squads' are sleuths -- both male and female -- deployed at public places in plain clothes.
The squad was formed soon after Yogi Adityanath assumed the office of chief minister in Uttar Pradesh last year in order to put a check on stalkers in the state.
