The governor of Massachusetts issued a state of emergency Friday , after a series of explosions the day before left one man dead.
The explosions and fires in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover may have been caused by an over-pressurized gas main according to state officials .
On Friday, Governor Charlie Baker said he was putting Eversource Energy in charge of coordinating the response to the explosions.
Local officials had complained Columbia Gas — the company in charge of the affected main — had been unresponsive.
An 18-year-old died after one of the explosions blew part of a chimney off a house and onto his car.
Dozens more were reportedly injured by the explosions and fires, which affected thousands of homes.
