Things are expected to heat up in the northern half of South Africa as temperatures rise in some parts and a heat wave makes its way to other parts on Saturday.
Warnings
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the North West, the north-eastern parts of the Free State, parts of the Highveld of Mpumalanga, the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and in Gauteng.
Special weather advisories
A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over the Vhembe and Mopani districts in Limpopo until Saturday.
Rain
Isolated showers and rain are expected along the Wild Coast and adjacent interior, as well as along the East Coast.
Temperatures
Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool across the central parts of the country, and the coastline and northern border are expected to be warm.
Vryburg in the North West is expected to be one of the coldest places, dropping to a below-freezing -1°C.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be hot along the northern border, including in Limpopo, and the northern parts of Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
Warmer weather is expected across the central interior of the Northern Cape, the Free State and the western and northern parts of KZN.
Cooler weather can be expected for the southern parts of the country, including the southern coastline.
A few places in Limpopo are expected to reach a high of 38°C.

Pretoria is expected to reach a high of 33°C, while Johannesburg is expected to reach a high of 31°C and Bloemfontein a high of 27°C.
Along the coast, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth are expected to reach a high of 19°C, while Durban is expected to reach a high of 23°C.
