Hamersley man charged shocking assault of seven-week-old baby

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 25-year-old man from Hamersley with assaulting a seven-week-old baby.

Police will allege the baby suffered life threatening injuries in an August 10 incident.

The man was home alone with the baby when the assault is alleged to have occurred.

The baby was rushed by ambulance to Perth Children's Hospital where he was treated.

The accused man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with a circumstance of aggravation.

He is next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 19.
