State-run Energy Efficiency Services (EESL) Friday said it has been selected by the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to facilitate implementation of five lakh solar water pumping systems in its member countries.
EESL will be responsible for the overall successful implementation of the programme in the participating countries that include India, Bangladesh, Sudan, Uganda, Senegal, Mauritius among others, the company said in a statement issued here.
These systems will be rolled out in ISA member countries that are participating in its 'Scaling of Solar Application for Agricultural Use' programme.
"We look forward to replicating the success of our ongoing solar projects and agricultural pumps programme in the member countries of ISA. Our aim is to help the farmers in getting easy and affordable day-time access to irrigation. This is a major step towards decentralised power solutions that also help in reducing carbon emission," EESL General Manager Rajneesh Rana said.

Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) Friday said its initiative Logistics Data Bank (LDB) has crossed 10 million mark of export-import containers tracked in real time.
The container tracking services, which had started from Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) from July 2016 and extended to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) in May 2017, has now crossed 10 million Exim containers.

Nashik: Metro Cash & Carry India Friday opened its first wholesale store in the city, near Nashik-Pune highway.
The 43,000-square feet store, is the 26th in the country, set up to benefit small grocery merchants, retailers and other commercial establishments
Arvind Mediratta, MD and CEO of the company said they have invested Rs 65 crore for the store. It will directly purchase agricultural produces, including onions, other green vegetables.
It will offer over 6,000 products in both food and non-food, and cater to over 40,000 registered customers across the city, which included 5,000 grocery stores, apart from hotel and restaurant owners, caterers services, companies and offices and self-employed professionals, it said.
It is also expected to generate about 500 local jobs. The entered the Indian market in 2003, currently operating 26 wholesale distribution centres under the brand Metro Wholesale, including 6 in Banglore, four in Hyderabad, two each in Mumbai and New Delhi among others.
