Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The BMC took action against shopkeepers using and selling substandard polythene and seized 185 kg of polythene carry bags and recovered Rs 8000 as spot fine from them.
The BMC team, led by assistant health officer Mohammad Kashif, raided the shops under zone-3, 4 and 8 at Kamali Mandir Road, Hamidia Road, DIG Bungalow, Raini wali Gali, Mangalwara, Chhavani, Jehangirabad, Murgi Bazar, Jinsi Road, Shabban Chauraha and other areas and seized 185 kg of substandard polythene carry bags and recovered Rs 8000 as spot fine from them.
The shopkeepers were advised not to use substandard polythene and also educate the customers in this regard. Announcements on loudspeakers were made to convince the shop owners about use of polythene.
