When debutante Soumya Sadanandan’s Mangalyam Thanthunanena releases next week, it will be a debut of sorts for State-award winning singer Rajalakshmy as well. The singer is making her debut as a dubbing artiste in the movie.
Rajalakshmy has dubbed for the character played by Leona Lishoy in the film that has Kunchacko Boban and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead. “I have sung a song in the movie composed by my close friend Sayanora. When Sou [Soumya] told me that she wanted me to undergo a voice test I never thought that it was to dub for a character. I have never done it before and had no clue about how to go about it. But Sou encouraged me at every step. So the full credit goes to her,” says Rajalakshmy.
Incidentally it was Soumya herself who introduced Sayanora as a dubbing artiste in her short film Rabbit Hole. Later Sayanora dubbed for Trisha’s character in Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude. “Sayanora asked me not to let go of the opportunity,” she says.
She has sung a duet with Sooraj Santhosh in Mangalyam... and will also be heard in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan.
Rajalakshmy has also tried her hand at composing. She has tuned kids’ songs for a music label and also scored the title song of International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala.
