MANAGLURU: JD(S) leader and minister for minor irrigation C S Puttaraju said here on Friday that some BJP MLAs are in touch with him.
To a query, the JD(S) leader said affirmatively that BJP MLAs are in touch with him. "Yes, they are in touch with us. We will watch the moves of the BJP and do the needful at the right time," said Puttaraju, who was in Mangaluru on an official tour. However, the minister refused to disclose the names of BJP MLAs, who are in touch with him.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the site proposed for the construction of a
dam across Nethravati River near Arekala, Putturaju said the JD(S) – Congress coalition government will last for five years. "There is no threat for our government. We will complete the five years term. No MLAs from JD(S) and Congress are in touch with BJP leaders. If our MLAs are in touch with BJP leaders, they (BJP) should have already started their job. Since BJP leaders are not able to poach MLAs from JD(S) and Congress, they have started pilgrimage. No poojas and offerings will work against the coalition government. Nothing can shake our government," he said.
Puttaraju and minister for urban development and housing U T Khader convened a meeting involving people's representatives from the coastal districts on the implementation of Paschimavahini Scheme at deputy commissioner's office before proceeding to Udupi.
