SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (PRWEB) September 14, 2018

The American Institute for Cancer Research (“AICR”), LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and PROSHRED® Springfield will host their first ever joint “Shred Cancer” event on Saturday, September 22, 2018. In collaboration, all community members are invited to bring their personal documents to be securely shred and their used clothing to be donated while raising funds for cancer research.

Individuals may bring up to five boxes of paper documents to be shred by PROSHRED®’s on-site shredding trucks. Individuals may also bring used clothing to be donated. The event is free to attend and a suggested donation of $5 per box will go directly towards funding AICR’s cancer research and education programs.

“Generous support from millions of individual Americans—and not government or industry grants—have allowed AICR to fund emerging research and to continue our programs for educating the public about what practical steps we all can take every day to live in a world with less cancer,” said AICR Senior Vice President of Development Mary Beth Healy, “The funds raised by the PROSHRED® community make a significant impact on the health of millions of Americans.”

Dawn Lapierre, Healthy Living Director at the Scantic Valley YMCA, commented, “LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is so pleased to be in collaboration with PROSHRED® and AICR to bring awareness and promote healthy lifestyle choices to increase the rates of survival after cancer.”

Jeffrey Hasham, Chief Executive Officer of PROSHRED® Security, commented, “We at PROSHRED® are extremely privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the crucial research conducted by AICR. Over the last 30 years AICR's work has led to increased awareness between diet, exercise and the prevention of many cancers. It is our hope that our collective efforts will raise awareness and money for the work AICR conducts. We are equally thrilled to partner with LIVESTRONG at YMCA to join forces and encourage physical activity to all effected by cancer. We hope to see everyone on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at our Shred Event, together we can Shred Cancer."

First held in 2014 on National Cancer Survivors Day, past events have contributed over $130,000 to cancer research.

Event Date: Saturday September 22, 2018
Event Location: 45 Post Office Park, Wilbraham, MA 01095, USA
Timing: 10am to 1pm
