THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state planning board has launched an online platform to receive ideas from public to formulate the development projects of the state. The section Idea Hunt is part of the revamped website - planspace - maintained by IIITMK for the planning board. Members of the public can register themselves by logging on to http://www.planspace.kerala.gov.in/ideahunt and submit ideas there.

"Idea Hunt is an initiative of the Kerala state planning board for effective collaboration and invites practical ideas and suggestions of peoplefrom all walks of life. This is an online system opened for the public to attract ideas and suggestions and to make the plan formulation process more participatory," said a statement issued by the planning board.

The initiative is aimed at spotting out-of-the-box ideas from the public which have the potential to become game changers.

Like the people's planning programme that was launched in 90's, the new online platform will enable public participation from grass roots on planning process.

While registering, the person has to give name, contact details such as mobile no/ email id, occupation, qualification, etc.

The email ID and mobile number is essential to complete the registration process. A registered user can offer as many suggestions as he/she wants on multiple sectors/sub sectors if they are interested.

Subject experts assigned by the planning board will periodically review suggestions and pick up ones which require further study and debate. They will soon be flagged to policy makers.
