‘Gaurakshaks’ beat up two near Bhuj

RAJKOT: Two persons were beaten up badly by a group of alleged ‘gaurakshaks’ (cow vigilantes) who suspected them of ferrying cows in their tempo near Nagor village on the outskirts of Bhuj on Friday morning.
Police said Razak Sama (22) and his cousin Anwar Sama (20), both residents of Madhapar village in Bhuj taluka, were attacked with bats by unidentified assailants, whose numbers are yet to be ascertained.

“Both Razak and Anwar were carrying a supply of pomegranates in their tempo from Rayadhanpar village of Bhuj taluka to Bhuj town when the accused arrived in three cars and overtook the tempo. When Razak and Anwar did not stop the tempo, the accused chased them and pelted stones at them. They then forced the tempo to halt and beat up the victims,” an official from Bhuj B division police station said.

Both the victims were taken G K General Hospital in Bhuj. “The victims received injuries in their feet and hands. Their tempo has been badly damaged with its windscreen smashed,” the official added.
