AMBALA: The SHO of
Ambala Sadar police station reportedly apologised before minister
Anil Vij after he was accused of slapping a man associated with the ruling
BJP.
It is learned that on Tuesday evening, one Vikas Singla, the president of Pansari Bazar Traders' Association had a tiff with Chander Shekhar over some issue. Both the persons are associated with the BJP.
Vikas alleged that Chander Shekhar had called him and challenged him to meet at Mayawala Chowk to settle scores.
As per Vikas, “On Tuesday after some time, he arrived at the Mayawala Chowk along with some of his accomplices. Some youths, who were already present there, attacked him and four guns were pointed at him in the market. Somehow, he managed to escape from spot and reached Ambala Sadar police station to file a complaint but the case was not registered.”
Meanwhile, Chander Shekher's side alleged that SHO Vijay Kumar slapped one of his associates when the matter was being resolved at the police station. After this incident, the youths created a ruckus and the matter took a political turn.
As both the parties are associated with BJP, some of the BJP workers reached minister Anil Vij’s residence late in the night at around 12am on Tuesday who sent them back after assurance of relevant action.
On Wednesday, Chander along with other workers reached Vij’s residence where a meeting was held. The Ambala Cantonment SHO was also called in for the meeting.
The whole matter was narrated to the minister following which, the SHO had to apologise to the youth he had allegedly slapped.
Following the orders from Vij, a meeting with the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was also conducted at the Rest House in the city where all the youths demanded the transfer of the police officer in question.
However, SHO Vijay Kumar denied any such incident.
“There was no such matter of slapping and nothing as such happened which is published in the media. I am doing my duties as per the law,” the officer said.
Ambala Cantonment DSP Suresh Chand said, “The matter has been solved and a case is registered in this matter. Inspector Vijay will continue his service at the Ambala Cantonment police station, he is not getting transferred anywhere else.”
On Thursday, a case on the complaint of Chander Shekhar was registered at the Ambala Cantonment police station against 18 youths with names under section 25 of Arms Act, 120B, 148, 149, 186, 307, 323, 332, 353, 427, 452, and 506 of Indian Penal Code. Chander in his complaint alleged that on Wednesday the two parties gathered to compromise the matter, but they could not reach any mutual understanding, after which on the guidelines of the Vikas Singla and his brother Amit Singla some youths had allegedly attacked him and his parents in his house with sticks, swords, pistol, and the glass bottles to kill them.
