Man found cooking chital meat in UP; arrested, released later

A person has been arrested for purchasing the meat of or spotted deer, a protected animal, in Ladta village under police station area here, a said Thursday.

He was released later after forest officials slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on him.

Based on a tip off that Surendra, the husband of a local gram pradhan, was cooking meat in his house, raided the premises Wednesday, said.

He was arrested with the meat and later released on a fine of Rs one lakh, Ojha said, adding that claimed that he had purchased it from one Sardar, a farm owner in the area. The said that efforts are on to nab Sardar.
