DETROIT -- A Ford Motor Co. employee was found dead inside a bathroom overnight at the company’s Sterling Axle Plant in a Detroit suburb. The cause of death remains unknown, police said Thursday.
Authorities were called around 12:10 a.m. after co-workers found the unidentified 24-year-old male unresponsive in a plant bathroom, a spokesman for the Sterling Heights Police Department said. The employee had told co-workers he had not been feeling well earlier in his shift before going to the bathroom, the spokesman said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and coworkers" of the employee, a Ford spokeswoman said in a statement. “We are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.”
