Man arrested for alleged possession of fake bank notes and dagga

A 28-year-old man from Tokoza in the East Rand, Johannesburg was arrested on Thursday for the alleged possession of more than 30kg of dagga and fake bank notes amounting to R55 600.

The arrest took took place during an operation by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department's (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit after a source tipped it off.

The man has been charged with possession of and dealing in dagga, the possession of unlicensed ammunition and the possession of counterfeit money, Kgasago added.

The dagga confiscated allegedly weighed 38.1kg and was valued at about R134 000.

The man is expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate's Court on Friday.
