A man was accosted by a man with a knife in Ringwood this morning.
Police said the victim was walking south along Maidstone Street near the intersection of Vine Street at 6.45am when he was approached by another man.
The attacker tried to take the victim's backpack but after a struggle ended up fleeing empty-handed. Police said it's believed he dropped a knife as he was running away.
The victim sustained minor scratches to his hand but didn't need medical treatment.
The attacker is described as of African Australian appearance and was wearing a blue jacket, dark pants and a baseball cap.
