Teen pilot lands plane after losing wheel

(SOUNDBITE) MAGGIE TARASKA, STUDENT PILOT, SAYING: "I just remember being jostled around and it was really bumpy…" 17-year-old student pilot Maggie Taraska will never forget her first solo flight.

It was on take-off from an airport in Beverly, Massachusetts when she realized...her plane had lost a wheel.

(AUDIO) (woman talking to Maggie - broll of tower) "Warrior you're right main is now missing from the airplane, it's fallen off the airplane.

Please state your intention?" Maggie nervously saying: "Can I circle back to land?" Woman: "Yes" (SOUNDBITE) MAGGIE TARASKA, STUDENT PILOT, SAYING: "It happened really fast…I was scared and stressed out obviously, if you listen to my conversation with the tower, you can tell that pretty clearly" (AUDIO) JOHN SINGLETON, MAGGIE'S INSTRUCTOR, SAYING: "When you're comfortable, I'm gonna have you turn around.

Does that work for you?" Her instructor John Singleton tried to keep her relaxed..

(SOUNDBITE) JOHN SINGLETON, MAGGIE'S INSTRUCTOR, SAYING: "We could hear the stress in her voice.

We're trying to keep her calm and keep her focused on the flying.." Maggie's father Walter - who's also a pilot - rushed to the airport, just in time for her textbook landing..

(SOUNBITE) MAGGIE'S FATHER SAYING: "I saw Maggie coming on her approach.

It was a better approach than I probably could've flown." (SOUNDBITE) MAGGIE TARASKA, STUDENT PILOT, SAYING (broll of plane): "Bad things happen all the time and it can't deter you from doing what you want to do and doing what you love.."
