None of the calls to the Delhi government’s helpline for home delivery of services “failed” on Wednesday, the third day of the service being open to users, a government statement said.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had launched the doorstep delivery of 40 government services, including applications for driving licences, marriage certificates and water connections, on Monday. The first two days saw long waiting periods for callers as well as thousands of calls that failed to connect altogether.
Having increased the number of operators and phone lines from Monday’s 40 and 50 respectively to 150 and 200 respectively on Wednesday, the helpline — 1076 — saw all calls connecting, the statement said.
On Wednesday, over 21,000 calls had connected to the helpline, while 3,517 were answered and 4,200 called back as of 5 p.m. The rest of the unanswered calls were in the process of being returned, the statement said. On Day One, the number of calls answered had stood at 1,286.
In total, from the launch of the service by 10 a.m. on Monday till 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the number of calls connected was 34,839 and the number answered was 8,275. In addition, messages were sent to 18,913 callers to tell them they would receive a call.
In all, callers fixed 2,187 appointments with the mobile sahayaks, who will go to their homes to aid in filling up application forms, collecting documents and depositing fees. Till 5 p.m., the mobile sahayaks had completed 223 home visits.
