PUNE: The red-coloured hair of a 19-year-old helped the Khadak police nab him and detain his minor accomplice within 12 hours of committing a robbery near
Swargate at 1.15am on Tuesday.
The youth, Ajhar Shaikh from
Indiranagar and his minor accomplice had robbed Sandip Jadhav (33) of
Hadapsar, a security guard, of cash and a cellphone together worth Rs4,200. “Jadhav was walking towards Swargate bus stand when the duo blocked his way and threatened him,” said sub-inspector V S
Misal.
“Jadhav lodged a complaint in the morning and while describing the robbers, he mentioned the colour of one of the suspect’s hair. While our team was carrying out searches in Swargate, they spotted Shaikh and nabbed him because of his hair colour,” Misal said.
The duo robbed Jadhav as they needed money for their addictions. “Shaikh, who has a previous criminal record, admitted to his involvement in the robbery and has been remanded to police custody for three days. The minor was produced before the juvenile justice board,” Misal added.
