Mohali: Man thrashes 40-year-old wife for serving dinner late, booked

MOHALI: A man allegedly assaulted his 40-year-old wife after she got late in serving him dinner, police said after registering a case against him on Tuesday.

Police said the accused has been identified as Narinder Kumar, a resident of Preet Nagar, Derabassi.

Neelam Rani told police that she was cooking when her husband came and asked her to serve him food on the night of September 5. She got late a few minutes.

When she finally offered him dinner, he refused to eat it. She then she went back to the kitchen and started cooking for children and other family members. Her husband suddenly entered the kitchen and beat her up and took her outside. Neelam said she received injuries on her arms. After beating her up, Narinder took her children outside the house. Neelam said she got herself treated at civil hospital, Derabassi.

Police said the two had gotmarriedin2001andhave two children. In 2004, the victim had filed for divorce. But both struck a compromise and started living together.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Narinder Singh, the investigating officer, said earlier they had lodged a DDR (daily diary report) in the police station and after the medical report, the husband was booked under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). “The accused will be arrested soon,” he claimed
