SURAT: Police arrested a 33-year-old man in
Amroli police station on Thursday for allegedly raping his 15-year-old step-daughter multiple times. The accused used to thrash the minor and her mother threatening them to kill if they complained to the authorities.
Police arrested
Naresh Patel, a resident of Amroli, from his residence after the complaint was lodged. The accused has been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including 376 (sexual assault) and its various sub-sections, 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The mother came to police on Wednesday along with the minor following the repetitive torture by the accused. “Police immediately took actions and arrested the accused,” said a police officer at Amroli police station.
Patel, an autorickshaw driver, got married to the survivor’s mother after a brief affair few years ago. The woman started living with the accused after marriage and her daughter was also living with them. Meanwhile, the accused first time raped the survivor in June and continued raping her till recently after which the mother approached police.
The accused first time raped the minor when other family members were asleep. He covered the face of the minor his hand and threatened her to kill if she complained. Later, he raped her many times on regular interval. Meanwhile, mother of the minor came to know about it and she objected. The accused thrashed her and threatened to kill if complained.
