Gwalior: Two forest guards were shot at by members of a stone mining mafia in Gwalior’s Ghatigaon area on Wednesday night.

Both the guards, identified as Harivallabh Chaturvedi and Harishchandra Chouhan, have been admitted to a private hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be critical.

According to a report in Times of India, some forest department officials on Wednesday afternoon seized two tractor trolleys loaded with illegal mined stones from Jikhrikho area under Tighri police station. When the officials were were taking the seized vehicles to their office for further action in the evening, they were ambushed upon and shot at by members of the stone mining mafia.

Police have started investigation in the case.
