GURUGRAM: A 4-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by his 19-year-old neighbour in Sector 17 on Tuesday. The accused was later arrested and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
Cops said the accused, identified as Anoop, and the victim’s family reside in the same building and are from Madhya Pradesh. The minor’s family lives on the ground floor, while
Anoop lived in a room on the first floor. On Tuesday evening, while the rest of his family was at home, the victim went upstairs to watch a TV programme in Anoop’s room. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly forced himself upon him.
“The victim returned home sobbing and narrated everything to his father. On the complaint of the minor’s father, an FIR was registered against Anoop at Sector 18 police station under relevant sections of the POCSO Act,” Subhash Bokan, police spokesperson, said.
In his complaint, the child’s father said that he first confronted the accused after he came to know about the crime and then approached police.
“By the time, police team reached the spot, Anoop had fled. He was arrested in the locality on Wednesday. We are from the same district and have known each other for a long time. I had trusted him and often used to leave my children with him. I never imagined that he would do such a thing,” the father said.
