The body of Pruthviraj Kandepi, the 25-year-old banking professional at Cincinnati in the U.S., who was killed in a shootout on September 6, was flown back to his residence at Tenali on Wednesday. The ambulance carrying the coffin arrived at his residence at 8 a.m. His parents Gopinath and Sudha Rani, and sister Manogna received the body.
Director of the A.P. Non Resident Telugu Association Rajasekhar Chappidi and executive engineer of the A.P. Housing Corporation Kolluru Basavaiah accompanied the ambulance from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad. MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad offered his tributes.
Friends and relatives of Pruthviraj gathered in large numbers and tried to console the family members.
His family members said they had plans to perform his wedding later this year.
Mr. Gopinath is an engineer with the A.P. Housing Corporation. Pruthviraj had studied in local schools and later did his B.Tech from the Vellore Institute of Technology. On September 6, he was shot dead at Fifth Third Centre Bank in downtown Cincinnati by a gunman, who was later killed by the police.
