Police get custody of five accused

The police team investigating the alleged plot made by a group to murder leaders of two Hindu organisations was on Wednesday granted custody of the five accused arrested in the case.

Principal District and Sessions judge R. Sakthivel directed the police to produce the accused before court on September 16. The accused R. Ashik (25) from Poomarket, S. Ismail (25) from Tindivanam, S. Salavudheen (25) from Otteri, I. Ali (29) from Vyasarpadi and S. Shamsudheen (20) from Pallavaram were arrested by the police from Goodshed Road on September 2 based on the intelligence that they had planned to murder Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath and Sakthi Sena leader Anbu Mari.
