Nagpur: Well aware of the fact that Union minister for transport and waterways Nitin Gadkari will be home taking time off for the Ganesh puja, controversial MLA from Dhule, Anil Gote, called on him on Thursday.
A senior politician, he switched over to the BJP and was elected on that party ticket. But apparently off late he is on a confrontation course with party colleague and minister for water resources Girish Mahajan. The outspoken politician that he is, Gote admitted that he had already raised the matter in the party forum.
“I had come to Nagpur for personal work and took the opportunity to make a courtesy call at Gadkari’s place,” he told reporters. Asked about his clash with Mahajan, Gote said, “Majahajan has no business to meddle in Dhule district and should restrict himself to Jalgaon.
Party sources said Gote held a grudge that despite his complaint, the party leadership was taking no action against Mahajan as he had blessings of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. “That could be the reason Gote may have met Gadkari to seek his intervention,” the party source added.
Before joining BJP, Gote was a string farmers’ leader. He had in the past also been linked with the massive counterfeit stamp scam masterminded by Telgi
