Compensation of over ₹1 crore to dependants of flood victims

Adalats for reissue of documents in Paravur from Thursday

The district has been allocated ₹1.12 crore for payment of compensation to dependants of those killed in the recent floods, District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla has said.

Tahsildars have been allocated funds at the rate of ₹4 lakh each to dependants of each victim. An amount of ₹52 lakh has been allocated to 13 families in Paravur taluk; ₹12 lakh for three families in Kanayannur taluk; ₹32 lakh for eight families in Muvattupuzha taluk; ₹12 lakh for three families in Aluva taluk, and ₹4 lakh for one family in Kothamangalam taluk.

Beneficiary families, which have received assistance from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund or taluks, will be given compensation after deducting that amount. Adalats for reissuing documents will get under way in Paravur taluk on Thursday. Duplicates of the documents will be issued with the help of the Kerala State IT Mission.

Aadhaar cards, SSLC books, ration cards, title deeds, health insurance and Motor Vehicle Department-related documents will be reissued during the adalat, which will last till September 15. Adalats will be held at the cooperative bank hall (No. 3131) at Chittettukara, cooperative bank hall at Neerikkodu Junction, and Chavara Darshana hall at Koonammavu on September 13, 14, and 15 respectively.
