JAIPUR: In a special case, the state government has decided to provide lucrative compensation to an unapproved Khandelwal Nagar colony, which was causing major hindrance in construction of clover leaf under the ambitious 47km Ring Road project.
According to sources, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will provide 50% of the land against the acquired plot size free of cost in the Ring Road’s development corridor. These plots will be of mixed-use.

The decision has raised many questions on the state government intentions as in past the JDA had provided 25% developed land as compensation in the development corridor to the farmers whose land was acquired for the project. Moreover, affected owners of unapproved colonies were forced to pay 60% reserve price of the plot in development corridor. Plot size of maximum 90 metre was also fixed for these affected owners.

Sources informed, “Government is under pressure to complete the project by September end. However, road to construct clover leaves are not acquired till date. As the colony is falling under same land, the government has decided to provide lucrative package in the election year.”

Running against time, the state government is unlikely to complete its ambitious 47km Ring Road project before the implementation of the model code of conduct.

In a recent meeting chaired by chief secretary, it was revealed that only 47% of the project has been completed after the construction work was handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

According to official sources, the higher authorities had directed to complete the project in two phases. The revised deadline to construct 28km road between Tonk Road and Ajmer Road was September 15. However, the work is not completed due to incessant rains. “Out of 28km, only 14km has been completed. It looks nearly impossible to complete the project by September end,” added a source.

Similarly, construction of remaining 19km road will be completed by October 30. The construction of the entire project, including flyover and clover leaves, is expected to be completed by April 2019.

An official source said, “Before the implementation of model code of conduct, the state government would invite Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate the project,” he said.
