VIJAYAWADA: In a swift move, Jana Sena Party on Tuesday announced its first MLA candidate and had issued the party B form to him.

Party chief Pawan Kalyan admitted Pitani Balakrishna from Mummadivaram Assembly constituency in East Godavari district and declared him as the party candidate for the next election. The party chief had also issued B form to Balakrishna and said that it was a good sign for the party to have a committed and dedicated leader to be declared as the party’s first MLA candidate.

“We belong to the same caste, the caste of police department. My father worked in the police department and Balakrishna too had worked in the department. That way we belong to the same caste. Balakrishna comes from the Setti Balija caste and by declaring him as the part’s first MLA candidate I pay my tributes to Tolem Nagaraju who belonged to the same caste and got electrocuted in the neighbouring Payakaraopet Assembly constituency while working for the party,” Pawan Kalan said.

Pawan Kalyan further said that he had come to politics to serve the people and not to make money. He had taken up the issues like kidney disease victims of Uddanam area and the sugar factory victims of Thummapala. He would take up such issues and fight for them till justice is done.

Balakrishna had worked earlier as the convener of the YSR Congress for the Mummadivaram Assembly constituency till recently and joined the Jana Sena minutes before he was made the party’s first MLA candidate.

While thanking Pawan Kalan for naming him the first MLA candidate of the party, Balakrishna said he would work for the party’s victory in the East Godavari district.
