An SUV purchased by a businessman was stolen within hours of him bringing the vehicle to his home in HAL second stage on Sunday.
Prabhu Krishnaswamy, 53, filed a complaint with the Indiranagar police stating that his car, along with two diamond rings and ₹22,000, was stolen from his house in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to the complaint, he had purchased the SUV (worth ₹20 lakh) and brought it home after visiting a temple around 10.45 p.m. He parked the car inside the gate and went to sleep. Around 3.30 a.m., thieves gained entry to the house by breaking open the back door. They took ₹15,000 and keys of the SUV, which were kept on a table. On the first floor, they found ₹7,000 and two diamond rings kept on a table. They took the valuables and then drove away in the vehicle.
Prabhu’s mother-in-law Usha woke up and saw the SUV being taken out of the gate, but went back to sleep assuming that her son-in-law was at the wheel.
The next morning, she called Prabhu asking his whereabouts. Prabhu told her that he was asleep at home. When she mentioned the SUV being driven out of the house at night, Prabhu rushed outside. The SUV was missing, along with the other valuables.
The Indiranagar police have taken up a case and are verifying CCTV footage to identify the culprit.
