MontBlanc Summit 2 to be the world's first smartwatch powered by Snapdragon 3100
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest processor for wearable devices. The company launched the Snapdragon 3100 after two and a half years. At the time of the launch, companies like Fossil, Montblanc and others confirmed that they will launch new smartwatches powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100.

Now a report has surfaced online suggesting that the first smartwatch to be powered by Snapdragon 3100 will be launched by Montblanc. As reported by Engadget, Montblanc will launch its smartwatch Summit 2 next year which will be backed by the new chipset.

Successor to the Montblanc Summit, the Summit 2 is also expected to be priced around the same price bracket as its predecessor. The Montblanc Summit is presently available in India at Rs 70,000 and it comes under the premium segment.

The Summit lacked some important features such as built-in GPS, NFC and it was also not swim-proof. This time it is expected that the company will incorporate all these missing features in the Montblanc Summit 2. The report suggest that the Summit 2 will be designed for both men and women and is said to be built for fitness, travel and exploration.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 is based on a new ultra-low power hierarchical system architecture approach. In this architecture, the high-performance quad core A7 processors, the highly efficient integrated DSP, and a new ultra-low power co-processor work in conjunction with each other to help customers re-imagine new smartwatch experiences while supporting extended battery life.
