Hyderabad, As many as 55 passengers, including 25 women and children were killed and several injured when the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus in which they were travelling lost control and fell into a valley on the Kondagattu ghat road in Jagtial district on Tuesday.
The toll mounted as more passengers succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Jagtial hospital.The acccident took place when the ill-fated bus was on its way from Sanivarampeta village to Jagtial via Kondagutta.The injured were admitted to different hospitals in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Presiden Rahul Gandhi, the two Telugu states Chief Ministers-K.Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) and N.Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) expressed sorrow and shock over the ghastly bus accident.
Mr Rao announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the families of the deceased passengers.
