NEW DELHI: Equity markets on Tuesday opened on a cautious note as investors felt bearish pressure from Monday's heavy losses.
30-share BSE
Sensex made some gains in the pre-opening session to start trading slightly above the psychological mark of 38,000 but slipped under it soon enough. At 9.27 am, the index was down 35 points at 37,887.
The broader 50-share NSE
Nifty too was in the red and testing the 11,450-mark.
On Monday, the markets witnessed the biggest single-day loss in six months as Sensex lost 468 points in a 1.2 per cent fall. Escalating global trade war concerns, the weakness of the Indian
rupee and rising global crude oil prices unnerved Dalal Street investors on Monday.
Pharma and PSU bank sub-indices were gaining close to a per cent each on Tuesday morning while the Nifty FMCG index was down almost 2 per cent.
