SEATTLE - Southern Explorations, specializing in crafting custom small-group trips and itineraries to Latin America, has partnered with the Torres del Paine Legacy Fund to help save Patagonia's legendary Torres Trail.
Visits to the trail in world-renowned Torres del Paine National Park have rapidly increased. The trail can now receive as many as one thousand hikers a day. Such intensive use has resulted in serious deterioration of the trail and addressing these impacts is now an urgent priority.
Under its partnership agreement with the Chilean National Forest Corporation (CONAF), the Legacy Fund has joined AMA Torres del Paine to launch the "Tu Mejor Huella para el Paine" (Your best footprint for Paine) campaign.
As part of Southern Explorations' continuing commitment to sustainability, they have now partnered with the Torres del Paine Legacy Fund to help spread the word about the inspiring and ambitious campaign.
"We've been admirers of the Legacy Fund since they first came across our radar through the incredible work they've been doing throughout the park to date," says Justin Laycob, Founder/CEO, Southern Explorations. "We have a shared love for the destination and vision for sustainable travel, so bringing this critical campaign to our guests' attention just made sense."
"We are thrilled to have Southern Explorations' support. They do so much for sustainability and are a leader in that space, so we are excited to have them as part of this project," says Emily Green, Director, Torres del Paine Legacy Fund. "It is a big undertaking and a lot of people in Chile are excited about it as well. Having organizations like Southern Explorations join us in our mission will really help to kick it up a notch."
