Boat Mishap In Goalpara, Assam

Guwahati : The boat mishap at the Brahmaputra River which claimed three lives had already stirred a lot controversy which definitely was not enough to wake Assam Government up as another similar incident takes place in Goalpara.

This time the unfortunate incident took place in West Goalpara’s Rakhaldubi on Monday. The boat carrying not less than ten people sank at the river. Although, there have been no reports of casualties, but a child is said to have been missing. Local residents have launched a search operation to find the missing child.More details waited.Several passengers have remained missing when a motorboat engine got immobilised on Beki River at Korakul in Kalgachia in Barpeta district of Assam and the boat collided with a post of a bridge on Monday afternoon. Eleven passengers could be rescued while rest of the passengers remained missing. Reports said there were many more passengers abroad while the boat was travelling from Baghbor to Milijuli. The people were going to enjoy a boat race. In another boat mishap that occurred at Rakhaldubi in Goalpara district on Monday. Ten of the passengers were rescued while an eighteen-month old child went missing after the mishap, an official source said.
