KURUKSHETRA: The family of two missing children here had filed a complaint with the district police on September 9, alleging kidnapping of their two 12-year-old children at a village Ajrana Khurd in the district. The family members had stated that on Sunday, the two boys along with them had gone to Markanda river in the evening around 5 pm. The family members returned home on the same day but the children did not return till late night, after which they filed the complaint with the Jhansa police station.

The police, after registering a case under section 365, had started a search for the missing children. On Monday, the police managed to recover the bodies of the children from river Markanda nearly three-four kilometer away from the spot where they had gone with the family members.

Jhansa station house officer sub-inspector Sandeep said, “From the time we received information about the missing children near the river Markanda, we suspected of the children drowning in the river while taking bath. The same came true after the rescue team started searching for the boys, whose bodies were later spotted in the river nearly three-four kilometer from where they had entered the river. The water in the river is deep, and the district administration had also alerted the residents not to go into the river in this rainy season. The boys entered the river to take bath, but they were unable to come out of the river.”
