‘Not sure if you saw my last email.’

Annoyed? If this were a work-related email, you would be. And you wouldn’t be alone. According to a new study by the software maker Adobe ADBE, +0.61% it’s just one of several phrases — most of them passive-aggressive in nature — that email recipients find most aggravating.

The Guardian lists the top nine such emailed annoyances — others: “Reattaching for convenience” and “As previously stated” — while the Times of London notes that “Not sure if you saw my last email” handily outpaced the Nos. 2 and 3 phrases “Per my last email” and “Per our conversation” for annoyance-triggering potential.
