A 25-year-old man died on the spot after being struck by lightning near Udusalamma temple in Dwaraalu village in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district on Tuesday.
The police said that the deceased, Naveen, was a resident of Thogaragunte village in Sira taluk. He had come, along with his family, to the temple. As they were leaving the temple, it started to rain. Naveen and his father took shelter under a tree near the temple.
The lightning struck Naveen around 7 p.m., police said.
The body was shifted to Sira taluk government hospital for a post-mortem.
A case has been registered at the Tavarekere police station.
