A 25-year-old woman who has filed a rape case against the son of a diamond merchant, has said that she was attacked and threatened by the accused’s friends to withdraw the case.
The complainant, an intern with a law firm, told the police that she woke up to a knock on the door early on Sunday. “When she asked who it was, the person replied that he needed water. Thinking it was someone working on the society premises for Ganapati preparations, she opened the door to find Rahil Parikh, a friend of Dharan Shah, the accused arrested by the LT Marg police,” an officer from the Vashi police station said.
She said that Mr. Parikh and three other men threatened and assaulted her. The victim fell unconscious, and on waking up visited NMMC Hospital, Vashi, and then went to the police.
“We are verifying if the incident is true. We are scrutinising CCTV footage. As per the victim, the four men came in a black four-wheeler,” the officer said. A case has been registered against Mr. Parikh and three others for outraging her modesty and assaulting her.
